Union Ministers H. D. Kumaraswamy and V. Somanna conducted a detailed inspection of infrastructure works along the Bengaluru–Mysuru railway line, signalling renewed focus on strengthening one of Karnataka’s key rail routes.
The review, conducted via a “window-trailing” journey from KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station to Mysuru, assessed progress on underpasses, overbridges, and station upgrades aimed at improving safety and connectivity.
A key outcome of the visit was the push to modernise Mandya Railway Station, with plans to enhance infrastructure, add platforms, and improve passenger amenities. Upgrades were also discussed for stations at Maddur, Srirangapatna, and Pandavapura, alongside new underpass proposals to address local mobility challenges.
The ministers emphasised faster execution of pending projects and expansion of train services, including additional stoppages and DEMU operations. With rising passenger demand and strong regional economic activity, the corridor is set for a comprehensive upgrade, aligning with the broader vision of transforming railway stations into modern, high-capacity transit hubs.
