Uttar Pradesh’s connectivity push has taken a decisive step forward with the approval of a key bridge project across the Ganga River near Chyawan Rishi Ashram in Kannauj. The state’s expenditure finance committee has sanctioned Rs 288.99 crore, clearing the way for construction to begin soon.
Planned at Chiyasar Ghat in the Gugrapur block, the 2.122 km-long structure will establish a vital road link between Kannauj and Hardoi districts. The total project cost, estimated at around Rs 302 crore, covers the main bridge, approach roads, and protective works.
Currently, residents depend on seasonal boat services that are often suspended during monsoons, disrupting mobility. The upcoming bridge aims to replace this uncertainty with all-weather connectivity, significantly improving regional access, easing transportation, and supporting economic activity across both districts.
