Minister for Youth Service and Sports Satish Sharma announced that ₹93.77 crore has been earmarked for the construction of sports stadiums across Jammu and Kashmir, signalling a push to strengthen grassroots sports infrastructure in the region.
The allocation aims to develop modern facilities in multiple locations, improving access for young athletes and encouraging wider participation in sports. The update was shared in the legislative assembly during a discussion on sports development, with members raising additional queries on the scope and implementation of the projects.
In a related development, the government is also working on a comprehensive master plan for Bhaderwah to guide its future growth. The plan, being prepared by the tourism department, will outline updated strategies for infrastructure and regional development.
Officials noted that the exercise will ensure better planning across tourism zones while maintaining continuity through existing frameworks until revisions are finalised. Local civic works in Bhaderwah, including upgrades to lanes, footpaths, and drainage systems, are also progressing with adequate funding support.
Together, these initiatives reflect a broader effort to enhance infrastructure, boost tourism, and promote sports development across the Union Territory.
