Mumbai’s next phase of urban mobility is nearing a significant milestone, with the first stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 9 between Kashigaon and Dahisar likely to open soon, pending final state approval.
The 4.5 km elevated corridor, now through trials and safety checks, signals more than just operational readiness. It reflects how quickly peripheral regions are being woven into Mumbai’s transit fabric. For commuters from Mira Road, the line promises a seamless ride to Andheri East via direct integration with Mumbai Metro Line 7, eliminating the need for multiple interchanges.
The opening also brings into focus the much-debated Golden Nest Junction Flyover, now set to ease traffic despite earlier concerns over lane narrowing.
Beyond Metro expansion, the proposed Pod Taxi system at Bandra Kurla Complex and the tunnel boring works for the Thane–Borivali twin tunnel indicate a broader push towards multi-modal connectivity.
Together, these developments underline a shift from isolated infrastructure upgrades to an integrated, commuter-first mobility network shaping Mumbai’s next growth arc.
