N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to lay the foundation for a large integrated steel plant in Anakapalli district, marking a significant step in the state’s industrial expansion. The project is being developed by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India with an investment of ₹1.36 lakh crore, the largest in Andhra Pradesh’s steel sector to date.
The facility will come up at Rajayyapeta in Nakkapalli mandal with a proposed capacity of 17.8 million metric tonnes per annum. Planned as a greenfield integrated steel plant, the project will be executed in two phases and is expected to generate employment for nearly one lakh people.
A captive port, with an estimated investment of ₹11,198 crore, forms a key part of the development, adding further logistics strength and employment potential. Senior industry leaders, including Lakshmi N. Mittal and Aditya Mittal, are expected to attend the foundation ceremony.
The state is also advancing supporting infrastructure, including a four-lane road linking the site to National Highway 16, to enable efficient connectivity and future scale.
