NH-48 corridor upgrade to add multiple flyovers, bridges between Delhi and Jaipur

A major capacity expansion is underway on the National Highway 48 corridor linking Jaipur and Delhi, where a cluster of new flyovers, underpasses and bridges is nearing completion. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set March 31 as the deadline to finish six ongoing structures along the Gurgaon–Kotputli–Jaipur stretch to remove bottlenecks and accident-prone black spots.

Nine grade-separation structures are planned in total to maintain uninterrupted highway movement. Flyovers at Kotputli, Behror and Dahmi have already been completed, while a newly built bridge at Khatolai has been opened to traffic. Work is currently progressing on two flyovers in the Bawal–Shahpura section and three bridges at Sotnala, Neelka and Nijhar, all expected to be ready within the deadline.

With signal-free movement across busy junctions and settlements, the upgraded corridor is projected to cut travel time between Jaipur and Delhi to about 4.5–5 hours. The improvement is expected to bring the route closer in efficiency to the expressway alternative, particularly during peak-hour congestion near city entry points.

Officials say the additions will improve safety, ensure smoother traffic flow and strengthen intercity connectivity while supporting faster passenger and freight movement along one of north India’s busiest highway links.
