With two elevated corridors nearing completion, Guwahati is set to see a shift in its traffic movement pattern as the city prepares to open the Cycle Factory and Bharalumukh Flyover to the public.
Authorities confirmed the Cycle Factory flyover will be operational before Bohag Bihu, although no formal inauguration will take place due to the election Model Code of Conduct. The Bharalumukh flyover, meanwhile, is scheduled to open by 1st week of March and is expected to significantly ease congestion and reduce travel time across the western corridor.
Once functional, the Bharalumukh stretch will streamline travel between Santipur and Jalukbari and improve access from Sukleshwar to Santipur, routes that currently witness heavy peak-hour traffic. Together, the two projects aim to redistribute vehicle load across key arterial roads, strengthening connectivity and improving overall urban mobility in the city.
