Urban connectivity in Noida is set to expand with the approval of a new metro link aimed at strengthening regional mobility and multimodal access.
The Union government has sanctioned an 11.56-km extension of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation Aqua Line between Noida Sector 142 and Botanical Garden at an estimated cost of Rs 2,254.35 crore. The elevated corridor will add eight stations, Botanical Garden, Sector 44, Office Station, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93 and Panchsheel Balak Inter College, and is targeted for completion within four years.
The extension will provide a key interchange with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation network at Botanical Garden, enabling seamless travel across Delhi-NCR and improving access to Indira Gandhi International Airport and major railway stations. The project follows earlier approval of the Detailed Project Report by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet and forms part of broader efforts to strengthen urban transport infrastructure under the Viksit Bharat vision.
Once operational, the new section will integrate with the existing Aqua Line corridor from Sector 51 to Depot Station, the approved extension toward the Boraki Multi-Modal Transport Hub, and the wider DMRC network operating in Noida. Running along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the corridor will serve dense residential clusters, institutional areas and IT/ITES hubs, improving last-mile connectivity and commuter convenience.
Officials expect the extension to significantly enhance mobility between Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi while supporting economic activity in rapidly developing urban catchments.
