Construction of Mumbai Metro Line 2B is nearing completion, with the Chembur station stretch likely to open in April 2026. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to begin operations on the initial segment between Diamond Garden and Mandala ahead of the full 23.64-km corridor rollout.
The phased commissioning is intended to facilitate early passenger movement while final works continue on the remaining sections. Safety certification procedures for the first stretch are currently underway.
Metro Line 2B (Yellow Line) will run from D.N. Nagar in Andheri West to Mandalay in Mankhurd East. The elevated corridor is being developed in three stages, ultimately linking with Metro Line 2A and providing interchanges with Metro Line 1, Metro Line 3, the monorail, and suburban rail networks.
Authorities expect the entire corridor to become operational between 2026 and 2027. Once completed, the line is projected to ease congestion across east-west corridors and strengthen Mumbai’s expanding metro network.
