The Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) M. Maheshwar Rao, has ordered for the blueprint preparation for an additional flyover near Iblur Junction on the Outering Road. He believes that constructing this flyover at the junction would reduce the normal traffic congestion significantly. He said that an approximately 800-metre-long flyover will be required at the Iblur Junction and the comprehensive plan will include the estimated cost of the project, time required to complete the work, and construction model.
“A plan is being prepared to ease traffic congestion by developing the ORR service road and footpath. BMRCL is working on the footpath and median, and coordinating with Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-Smile) officials. They have been instructed to finalise the Detailed Project Report (DPR) so that ongoing works are not repeated,” he added.
While inspecting the footpaths, he noted that an approximately 2km long footpath near Iblur Metro Station (from Silk Board Junction side) requires maintenance at some places and instructed officials to mend them.
He has also asked the corporation and traffic police officials to jointly inspect the ORR and submit a list of the number of required pedestrian overpasses (skywalks) and directed the officials to prepare the design of the pedestrian overpasses and estimated grant required.
