Khapri Railway Station to Receive ₹4-Crore Infrastructure Upgrade

Khapri railway station on the outskirts of Nagpur is set for a long-awaited infrastructure upgrade, with Central Railway planning works estimated at ₹4 crore. The project aims to address long-standing deficiencies and improve passenger safety, comfort and operational efficiency.

All three platforms will be revamped, along with upgrades to the station’s rear side, which has seen limited development despite regular commuter use. Key works include the construction of a dedicated electrical panel room to strengthen power management and safety systems, along with extensive roofing to improve passenger shelter during the monsoon.

Drainage infrastructure will be enhanced through new rainwater spouts and pipelines to prevent waterlogging. Platforms and circulation areas will be resurfaced using 60 mm paver blocks. Structural steel works involving trusses and framed sections will be executed using riveted, bolted or welded systems with protective primer coatings.

The project also includes upgraded water supply systems and reinforced concrete works to improve long-term structural stability, aligned with rising commuter demand in the region.
