From factory floors to AI labs: Samsung’s JB Park on creating an ecosystem of industrial design in India

Samsung is reimagining India’s role in its global innovation strategy, moving beyond manufacturing to AI-led industrial design and software-driven products. Speaking on the sidelines of CES 2026, Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park said the company is embedding artificial intelligence across smartphones, appliances and connected devices, with India at the centre of this shift.

Samsung plans to make all home appliances Wi-Fi enabled from 2026, allowing long-life products such as refrigerators and washing machines to receive continuous software and AI upgrades. India-specific use cases are shaping this approach, from AI-enabled washing machines that recognise sarees to smart kitchens trained on Indian food habits and languages.

Park underlined Samsung’s focus on on-device AI and data security through Knox Vault, avoiding cloud dependence and subscriptions. With over 14,000 engineers across Delhi, Noida, and Bengaluru, India is emerging as a key AI and design hub in Samsung’s global roadmap.
