AP Secures ₹61 Cr for Sports Infrastructure Under Khelo India

Andhra Pradesh has secured ₹60.76 crore under the Khelo India scheme for the development of sports infrastructure across multiple districts, giving a major boost to grassroots and competitive sports in the state.

Of the total allocation, ₹14 crore each has been sanctioned for the construction of multipurpose indoor halls at the NTR Sports Complex in Kuppam, Chittoor district, and at Pathrunivalasa in Srikakulam district. Both facilities will feature halls measuring 60 m x 40 m, designed to support multiple indoor sports disciplines. In addition, ₹13.76 cr has been earmarked for a multipurpose stadium at Aren-2 in VL Puram, Rajamahendravaram.

The Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada has received ₹19 crore to upgrade it into a multipurpose sports centre. The works include a 400-metre eight-lane synthetic athletics track, 25-metre-high floodlight towers, an artificial grass football field, tennis and basketball courts, and upgraded floodlighting for track and court facilities.

The projects are expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s sports ecosystem and provide modern training facilities for athletes across the state.
