The Noida Authority has engaged the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi, to prepare a City Logistics Plan (CLP) aimed at streamlining freight movement and reducing congestion across the city. Noida was selected under the Union government’s national logistics planning framework, led by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
SPA was chosen on a nomination basis after evaluating proposals from leading government institutions, including IIT Roorkee. The institute has previously worked with the Authority and prepared the master plan for the Delhi–Noida–Ghaziabad Investment Region up to 2041.
As part of the exercise, SPA will conduct a baseline assessment of Noida’s freight ecosystem, mapping warehouses, industrial clusters, markets and major freight routes. The plan will recommend measures such as dedicated truck corridors, better loading zones and improved parking facilities, with an emphasis on optimising existing infrastructure due to land constraints.
The CLP will also promote off-peak freight movement, sustainability measures, sector-specific partnerships and a monitoring framework to track implementation.
