The Prime Minister is likely to inaugurate the new terminal building of Leh Airport along with several key development projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh in April. Work on the new airport terminal, whose foundation stone was laid in 2019, is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed within the month.
Alongside the airport project, multiple strategic and civilian infrastructure works, including roads, tunnels and highways, are nearing completion. These projects are aimed at improving connectivity, supporting defence requirements along the Line of Actual Control, and boosting tourism and local economic activity.
The Leh airport upgrade is being carried out while maintaining full operational services, ensuring uninterrupted air connectivity. The upcoming terminal will feature modern passenger facilities, enhanced capacity and energy-efficient systems. It is also designed as a model for sustainable aviation, incorporating renewable energy solutions.
