Telangana Allocates ₹205 Crore for Mamnoor Airport Redevelopment to Boost Regional Connectivity

The Telangana government has released ₹205 crore for acquiring 280 acres of land to facilitate the redevelopment of Mamnoor airport in Warangal, which is set to become the state’s second commercial airport. The funding will support runway expansion, facility upgrades, and the construction of new infrastructure essential for commercial flight operations.

The redevelopment plan aims to enhance air connectivity for Warangal, a key cultural and economic hub in Telangana. Once operational, the airport is expected to handle increased passenger traffic, promote tourism, and support business travel, thereby contributing to the region’s overall economic development. The expanded runway and upgraded facilities will also enable the airport to accommodate larger aircraft, improving both domestic and potential international flight operations.

Officials highlighted that the redevelopment will involve extensive construction and modern infrastructure development, which will drive demand for steel and related materials. As India focuses on expanding its aviation network, projects like Mamnoor airport are critical for strengthening regional connectivity while creating opportunities for the steel sector through the construction of terminals, hangars, and associated facilities.

The Mamnoor airport project forms part of the broader strategy to improve infrastructure in Tier‑2 cities, reducing travel time and supporting regional growth. With the state government committing funds for land acquisition, the project is expected to move into advanced planning and construction phases soon.

The upgraded airport will complement Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, easing congestion and enabling balanced aviation development across Telangana. Industry experts see this as a strategic step toward boosting connectivity and economic activity in Warangal and nearby districts.
