IKEA India has announced Patrik Antoni as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 2025, marking a significant leadership transition as the company prepares for an ambitious expansion across India.
Antoni brings over two decades of global experience with IKEA, including a previous stint as Deputy CEO in India. He was instrumental in establishing the retailer’s first store in Hyderabad, before taking on the role of General Manager in Russia under Ingka’s leadership. His deep understanding of the Indian market, combined with international exposure, positions him to guide IKEA India through its next growth phase.
In his expanded role, Antoni will have holistic oversight of IKEA’s retail operations and shared functions across all Ingka entities in India. The CEO position will work closely with the country retail manager and chief sustainability officer to accelerate store rollouts and strengthen omnichannel and sustainability initiatives. “I look forward to bringing my experience, energy, and deep commitment to IKEA’s values to support our expansion plans, making IKEA even more accessible to the many people in India,” Antoni said.
Antoni succeeds Susanne Pulverer, who is stepping down after 28 years at IKEA, including over eight years in India. The company has launched a search for her successor as country retail manager and CSO. Under her leadership, IKEA India expanded its footprint with stores in Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, alongside developments in the Delhi–NCR region.
Antoni’s appointment comes at a time when IKEA India is recalibrating its format strategy—balancing big-box stores with smaller city outlets—and expanding its online presence. His local insights and track record of building supply-chain and sustainable business models will be key to advancing IKEA’s mission in India.
