In a move aimed at strengthening its value-added product portfolio, Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) has successfully commissioned a new galvanising line at its Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to produce thin hot-rolled galvanised coils in the 1–1.5 mm thickness range, which are widely used in structural applications such as tubing, silos, tank farms, and pre-engineered building (PEB) structures.
The new line is part of JSPL’s broader strategy to cater to the rising demand for pre-galvanized steel, which is essential for corrosion-resistant construction in industrial, commercial, and agricultural sectors. Galvanised coils are a key input for manufacturers of steel-framed buildings, industrial sheds, roofing systems, and water storage solutions-especially in coastal or high-moisture environments where corrosion resistance is critical.
According to JSPL officials, the commissioning of this galvanising line reflects the company’s focus on diversifying its product base and enhancing downstream capabilities. It also aligns with India’s growing emphasis on sustainable and durable infrastructure, where galvanised steel offers longevity, low maintenance, and high strength-to-weight ratio.
The Angul facility is one of JSPL’s flagship integrated plants and among the most modern in the country. The addition of this galvanising line not only enhances its manufacturing capacity but also allows JSPL to cater to a wider spectrum of industries with tailored steel solutions.
With the surge in demand for steel in infrastructure, warehousing, transport, and agro-industrial sectors, this development is expected to position JSPL as a major supplier of high-quality, corrosion-resistant steel products in both domestic and export markets.
