Mumbai’s metro network is set for a major expansion with the upcoming Metro Line 14, connecting Kanjurmarg to Badlapur-Ambarnath. The 38 km line, featuring 15 stations—13 elevated and 1 underground—will drastically reduce travel times for Badlapur residents, cutting the current 1.5 to 2-hour commute to Mumbai down to just a few minutes.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has appointed a consultant to prepare an environmental impact report, a crucial step as the route passes through ecologically sensitive areas such as Thane Creek and the Flamingo Sanctuary.
With the Detailed Project Report (DPR) already approved by IIT Bombay, the final approval from the state government is awaited before construction begins.
With an estimated cost of Rs 18,000 crore, construction for Metro Line 14 is expected to begin within a year. Once completed, it will greatly enhance connectivity between Mumbai and its suburbs, providing a faster and more convenient transit option for daily commuters.
