The long-awaited project to build four new bridges over the Sidhwan Canal is progressing rapidly, with the recent arrival of the second prefabricated steel structure at the construction site on Thursday. Manufactured by Durga Engineering (Yamuna Nagar, Haryana), this delivery follows the first consignment from New Life Infra (Kotkapura, Punjab), marking an important milestone in the ongoing work.

With the steel framework for two of the bridges now on-site, assembly is set to begin soon, bringing the project closer to completion. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora, who has been actively overseeing the development, shared the update in a press release on Friday.

In a bid to ensure timely progress, Arora recently sent a team alongside National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials to inspect the manufacturing facilities. The installation of each bridge is expected to take around a month.

This project, initiated through Arora’s persistent efforts in collaboration with the NHAI, is designed to ease long-standing traffic congestion in the area. Local residents on both sides of the Sidhwan Canal have been advocating for these bridges for years, particularly as South City’s rapid growth in commercial and residential development has put additional strain on the existing infrastructure.

Arora remains optimistic that the new bridges will be operational by late April or early May, offering much-needed relief to commuters in the region.
