The Assam government is prioritising infrastructure development, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing that construction of over 1,000 bridges is currently underway across the state. During a visit to Lakhimpur district on Sunday, where he inaugurated several development projects, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing Assam’s road network system.
In a move to further boost the state’s growth and attract investment, the government is organising the second edition of the ‘Advantage Assam’ investor summit, scheduled for February 24 and 25, 2025. The summit aims to draw investors from across India and abroad, showcasing Assam as a promising investment destination.
The event will also serve as a platform to celebrate Assam’s rich cultural heritage. A highlight of the summit will be a grand performance of Jhumur dance, a traditional art form of the tea tribe communities. The cultural show is expected to feature over 7,500 dancers and artists, with representation from more than 800 tea gardens across the state. The Chief Minister shared plans for rigorous preparations, including master training workshops, constituency-level sessions, and final rehearsals in Guwahati to ensure a flawless execution.
The summit builds upon the success of the first edition held in 2018 and aims to position Assam as a leading investment hub in India. Sarma emphasised that Advantage Assam 2.0 is not only a platform to attract investors but also an opportunity to share Assam’s vibrant traditions with a global audience.
The state recently made headlines for setting a Guinness World Record with the largest Bihu dance performance. With its ambitious plans for infrastructure development and cultural diplomacy, Assam is poised to leave a lasting impression on visitors and investors alike.
