Six major infrastructure projects worth Rs 64 billion were unveiled in Odisha, including three new railway lines: Bangriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia, and Badampahar-Keonjhargarh. Spanning 228 kilometres, these projects aim to enhance connectivity and drive regional economic growth. The Badampahar-Keonjhargarh line, covering 82 kilometres through Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts, is estimated at Rs 21.06 billion. The Bangriposi-Gorumahisani line, an 86-kilometre route, is being developed at Rs 25.49 billion to improve passenger and freight movement. The Buramara-Chakulia line, linking Mayurbhanj and Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, will span 60 kilometres and cost Rs 16.39 billion, facilitating industrial transportation.
Additionally, three other projects were inaugurated virtually: a Tribal Research and Development Centre, Dandbose Airport, and a 100-bed sub-divisional hospital in Rairangpur. These initiatives are poised to improve healthcare, education, and connectivity in the region. The projects are part of the Central Government’s “Purvodaya” initiative, aimed at accelerating Eastern India’s development through infrastructure and welfare programmes.
