Suzlon Group has secured a significant 302.4 MW wind power project from Jindal Renewables in the Koppal region of Karnataka. This latest addition brings the total wind capacity in collaboration with Jindal Renewables to 702.4 MW, marking Suzlon’s largest commercial and industrial (C&I) order to date. The energy generated will be used to power Jindal’s steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, contributing to the company’s efforts to integrate renewable energy into its industrial operations.
The new order follows a 400 MW project secured by Suzlon from Jindal Renewables in the same region last month. Suzlon will provide 96 S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each with a 3.15 MW capacity, featuring Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT) for improved efficiency. With this deal, C&I customers now represent 56% of Suzlon’s record 5.4 GW order book.
The collaboration strengthens the shared green steel mission, supporting India’s renewable energy goals, including the target of 50% electricity from non-fossil fuels by 2030. Suzlon’s partnership with Jindal Renewables reflects a commitment to driving sustainability and decarbonizing the steel industry. According to Bharat Saxena, President of Jindal Renewables, this is only the beginning of their journey toward renewable energy adoption across industrial operations.
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, highlighted the importance of renewable energy integration within hard-to-abate industries such as steel. He emphasized that such partnerships play a crucial role in transforming industries toward more sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
