Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is set to expand its network to 175 km by 2026, significantly improving connectivity, easing traffic congestion, and promoting sustainable urban mobility. The expansion includes new corridors like the Purple Line and the Outer Ring Road-Airport Line, linking key city hubs, commercial zones, and residential areas to enhance accessibility for commuters.
Modern metro stations integrated with existing bus services will enable seamless transfers between transport modes. Provisions for last-mile connectivity aim to ensure hassle-free access to final destinations, improving overall commuter convenience.
Overseen by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL), the project emphasizes advanced technologies and sustainable practices, focusing on energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. The extended metro network is expected to slash travel times, providing better access to employment hubs, educational institutions, and essential destinations while supporting the city’s vision for eco-friendly public transportation.
