Following the allocation of Rs 1,150 crore in the 2024-25 Budget by the Uttar Pradesh government for the Noida International Airport in Jewar, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is set to initiate land acquisition for the airport’s further expansion. UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna disclosed the budget provision.
YEIDA officials confirmed that the funds will be utilized for acquiring 2,053 hectares for the third and fourth phases of the airport project. The Noida International Airport’s phase one development is ongoing, with commercial operations scheduled to start by December 2024, aiming to alleviate congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Swiss-based Zurich Airport, in collaboration with Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), is overseeing the construction, while Tata Projects is managing the engineering, procurement, and construction. The airport is on track for test flight operations in April 2024, with completed runway work and Air Traffic Control facilities. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has assigned the three-letter code ‘DXN’ to Noida Airport for clear identification in global aviation.
