The Maharashtra government has greenlit a Rs 2.21 billion project to transform Karad’s current airstrip in Satara district into a full-fledged airport. A government resolution details the allocation of funds, with Rs 890 million designated for acquiring 45.82 hectares of land.
Additionally, Rs 290.73 million will be utilized for extending the existing airstrip, constructing an apron, and upgrading navigation and communication systems. Further approval of Rs 200 million aims to acquire 2.9 hectares for relocating affected individuals, with an added Rs 140.59 million budgeted for land leveling, building a compound wall, and establishing water management channels during the rainy season.
