Sterling and Wilson Private Limited (SWPL), a part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and a prominent engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm in India, has announced the commencement of construction for its second data centre project in partnership with Raxio. Raxio is a leading platform for carrier-neutral, colocation, Tier-III data centres in Africa, offering top-notch facilities and services that support the growth of digital economies across the continent.
This upcoming data centre will be a groundbreaking addition, being the first independent and neutral Tier-III certified data centre in the country. Initially, it will have a total IT load of 3 MW, with the potential to expand to 7 MW and accommodate over 1,600 racks. The facility is designed with a focus on performance and energy efficiency and is expected to be operational by the second half of 2024.
Sterling and Wilson, known for providing comprehensive Turnkey Data Center EPC solutions, will handle the design and construction of the data centre facility, ensuring it achieves Tier-III TCDD certification from the Uptime Institute. Their scope of work encompasses the entire MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and civil structure, which will be constructed using pre-engineered steel to ensure high quality and expedited project completion.
