Pristine Logistics & Infraprojects (PLIL), a prominent integrated rail terminal operator in India, is embarking on an expansion into Bangladesh in collaboration with Summit Alliance Port (SAPL), a well-established local player in the off-dock sector. This strategic partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed on August 27, and Summit Alliance Port is a publicly listed entity on the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges.
The central focus of this alliance is the establishment of joint venture companies dedicated to the development of rail-linked Inland Container Depots (ICDs), Container Freight Stations (CFSs), and Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) at strategically significant locations within Bangladesh. Summit Alliance Port, which manages a substantial portion of the country’s containerized cargo, holds a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s trade landscape.
The overarching goal of PLIL and Summit Alliance Port is to create world-class, rail-based cargo hubs that will significantly enhance Bangladesh’s logistics infrastructure. Their vision includes catering to the transportation requirements of exporters and importers by offering long-haul rail services originating from Indian locations and extending to the border and inland regions of Bangladesh.
Additionally, this collaborative effort aims to provide a comprehensive array of services, encompassing warehousing, consolidation, labeling, packaging, multimodal transport options, container repair, and distribution. These services are designed to ensure seamless connectivity to gateway ports, serving the needs of Bangladesh’s trade community.
PLIL, with its wealth of experience, currently operates rail terminals and provides logistics services in India and Nepal. On the other hand, Summit Alliance Port operates inland container depots and container freight stations within Bangladesh, with additional facilities situated in Chittagong Port and river terminals in India.
