Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a 70 MW solar power project in Banda, highlighting the state’s ambition to become a major renewable energy hub. The project marks a significant step towards the state’s goal of generating 22,000 MW of green energy. Adityanath outlined plans to develop cities like Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur into solar cities and emphasized that Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions hold substantial potential for solar power.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the state government has identified a 23,000-acre land bank to support this green energy initiative, aligning with the Solar and Bio Energy Policy-2022 and the Green Hydrogen Policy-2024. He noted that the solar power plant’s inauguration is a milestone for realizing investment proposals from the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit, which will create over 400 jobs.
Adityanath also discussed the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, aimed at installing solar panels in 25 lakh homes across the state, with 18 lakh registrations already completed. He suggested utilizing the extensive canal network, developed under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, for additional solar energy production. The Chief Minister encouraged the Avaada Group to further invest in Uttar Pradesh’s renewable energy sector and expressed hopes for Bundelkhand to become a significant center for solar energy, with plans to train 60,000 Solar Mitras, of whom 6,000 have already been trained.
