Delhi Plans PM Ekta Mall to Showcase Regional Crafts

The Delhi government is planning to establish a PM Ekta Mall in the city to promote distinctive products from states and Union Territories across India. The proposed retail and cultural space will highlight handicrafts, GI-tagged products and items under the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative, creating a platform for artisans and regional industries to reach a wider audience.

The Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) has initiated the process of appointing a consultant to prepare the architectural design and concept plan for the project. Officials said a suitable location is currently being explored, with areas that already host DTTDC facilities emerging as potential options.

Among the locations under consideration are Dilli Haat in INA, Majnu Ka Tila and Pitampura, all of which already attract significant visitor footfall and cultural activity.

The proposed mall is expected to cover around 1,200 sq m and could feature 36 stalls representing different states and Union Territories. In addition to retail spaces for traditional products, the development may also include areas for cultural performances, exhibitions and food courts, offering visitors a broader experience of India’s diverse regional traditions.

The initiative aims to strengthen market access for artisans while promoting cultural exchange and tourism within the capital.
