NHPC has opened bidding for 39.73 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects in Sikkim and Jammu & Kashmir as part of its ongoing effort to expand renewable energy infrastructure. These projects, to be developed under the renewable energy service company (RESCO) model, will span multiple districts in both states.

In Sikkim, the focus will be on installing 5.06 MW of rooftop solar capacity on government buildings, with proposals due by February 24, 2025. The projects will range from 270 kW to 1,790 kW across various districts. Meanwhile, in Jammu & Kashmir, a larger 34.67 MW capacity will be installed for different government departments under the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA). Bids for this portion of the project must be submitted by February 21, 2025.

Bidders are required to meet strict qualifications, including a proven track record of installing at least 400 kW of grid-connected solar systems. They must also demonstrate an annual turnover between Rs 5.4 million and Rs 35.4 million, depending on the project category, and have a positive net worth in two of the last three financial years. Both solar installations must be commissioned within nine months of signing power purchase agreements.
